A federally chartered issuer
Paxos became Paxos Trust Company, N.A., a national trust bank supervised by the OCC, in December 2025. It applies the GENIUS Act reserve requirements to PYUSD.
PayPal USD on Solana
PayPal USD (PYUSD) is issued by Paxos Trust Company, N.A. and backed 1:1 by US dollar deposits, US Treasuries, and cash equivalents. On Solana it is a Token-2022 mint, so your app holds and sends it with the same token tooling as any other SPL token.

Issuer and reserves
PayPal brands and distributes PYUSD. Paxos issues it, holds the reserves, and handles minting and redemption.

KPMG examines the reserves every month. Each report lists repurchase agreements, US Treasuries, and cash held against the tokens in circulation, chain by chain.
PayPal users in the US can hold PYUSD and transfer it to external wallets on Solana, so a balance they already have can reach your app.
The mint
PYUSD uses Token Extensions. Some are active today. Others are initialized but switched off, and Paxos can turn them on later, so handle all of them before you go live.
The issuer can transfer or burn PYUSD from any account, for example to comply with a legal order. The mint also has a freeze authority.
The name, symbol, and logo are stored on the mint itself, so wallets read them without a separate metadata program.
The fee is set to 0 basis points. Send with transferChecked and read the fee config instead of assuming it stays at zero.
No hook program is set. If one is added, transfers need its extra accounts, so use a client that resolves them.
Initialized, and new accounts are not approved by default. Standard public transfers are unaffected.

01Test
Request test tokens from the Paxos faucet and point your app at the devnet mint.
02Accept
Build a checkout that confirms a PYUSD transfer to your wallet, with Solana Pay or Commerce Kit on the front end.
03Send
Check that a recipient address can receive PYUSD before you send, and cover network fees for users who hold no SOL.
04Automate
Charge per request in stablecoins with x402, an HTTP payment protocol for APIs and AI agents.
Paxos issues and redeems PYUSD. The Solana Foundation does not issue PYUSD or hold its reserves. PayPal sets availability and rewards, which vary by region.
