MoneyGram Ramps is live on Solana, giving builders direct access to MoneyGram's global fiat on- and off-ramp infrastructure through a single API. The integration brings cash deposits in over 25 countries and withdrawals in over 170 countries and territories to Solana apps, wallets, and exchanges.
MoneyGram Ramps is embedded in the Solana Developer Platform payments module, which is designed to connect Solana builders with payment flows their applications need to reach real users at scale.
Fiat connectivity at global scale
MoneyGram Ramps is a developer-centric API for fast, compliant cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash integration through a single implementation. It connects Solana applications to MoneyGram's physical and digital network without developers needing to build their own banking infrastructure or navigate complex regulatory requirements.
For builders on Solana, the integration includes:
- Instant API credentials and sandbox access.
- Documentation and software development kits (SDKs).
- No required banking integrations.
MoneyGram operates one of the world's largest global payments networks, with over 60 million active customers, nearly half a million retail locations, and a digital footprint reaching billions of devices across more than 200 countries and territories.
"Solana is infrastructure for the more than six billion people on the internet, powering a faster, more open, global financial system," said Lily Liu, President, Solana Foundation. "By connecting our ecosystem to MoneyGram's global payments network through MoneyGram Ramps, developers are able to more easily build financial applications with real-world utility at global scale."
What builders can unlock
Access to MoneyGram's cash network expands what developers can build on Solana. The integration supports new ways to connect onchain payment flows with local currency access.
- Remittances and cross-border payouts: Send money onchain and let recipients walk into participating MoneyGram cash-out locations to connect to local currency, without requiring a bank account or wallet literacy on the receiving end.
- Payroll for distributed and gig workers: Pay contributors in stablecoins and give them access to a cash-out option in markets where banking access is inconsistent.
- Aid distribution: Get money to where it is needed quickly and make it accessible in some of the world's hardest-to-reach places.
Built into Solana Developer Platform
MoneyGram Ramps is now available alongside other Solana Developer Platform API modules, including issuance, payments, wallet management, and more. The goal is to reduce the time from idea to production and remove operational barriers that slow institutions and developers down.
Rift is the first wallet on Solana to integrate Ramps, giving users access to move between crypto and local currency through MoneyGram's global network.
"The future of payments is built on access," said Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO of MoneyGram. "Every platform we connect expands the reach of our network. Every customer we serve makes that network more valuable. Bringing MoneyGram Ramps to Solana is another step toward building a truly open, global payments network."
MoneyGram's role on Solana
MoneyGram's presence on Solana continues to deepen. As an infrastructure partner, active validator, and now ramps provider through Solana Developer Platform, MoneyGram demonstrates the breadth of opportunities available to institutions building on Solana.
