Well, there is definitely liftoff. Thousands have already joined in IGNITION, the latest Solana hackathon with millions in prizes and seed funding.
Since the last update, there's been some major news — due to popular demand, the hackathon has been extended! Projects are now due by October 15th. Don't forget that if you submit a project by then, you'll get an exclusive NFT lighter.

The Solana ecosystem is growing strong — and it just hit a big milestone. The Solana Mainnet Beta now has more than 1000 validators! They're spread around 111 cities and 28 countries around the world.

Big news: Wormhole has officially launched an NFT bridge between Ethereum and Solana. Now you can send your favorite NFTs (from Cryptopunks to DegenApes) cross chain!
👻 Phantom hits 500k+ users
Is it getting crowded in here? Phantom, the friendly and easy Solana wallet, now has more than 500,000 active users. Well, 520,000 weekly active users, to be exact.
As Mike Dudas of The Block points out, MetaMask has 10 million monthly active users. Just saying.
🦍 DegenApesAcademy votes for student council, launches DAOO
The votes are in, and class is now in session. The Degenerate Ape Academy officially launched their DAOO — and with it, the inaugural members of their student council. They also announced they are minting NFgTs (Non-Fungible Governing Tokens) for every member of the DAOO that allow on-chain voting for any issue brought up to it.

Wanna bet? Hedgehog Markets launched their mainnet on September 22nd, making them the first prediction market built on Solana.

Whale hello there! Orca, the user friendly Solana DEX, raised $18 million from numerous investors, including Polychain, Placeholder, and Three Arrows as principal investors and additional support from Jump Capital, Sino Global Capital, Collab & Currency, DeFiance, Zee Prime, Coinbase Ventures, Solana Capital, and a number of angel investors.
